I’m joining Katie Down this month at Sage Center in Woodstock for her new monthly sound bath. Katie Down’s sound baths are sonic meditations incorporating all the senses, based on the premise that we listen with our etheric, emotional and mental body and that through Deep Listening, we can self-heal, connecting with ourselves and each other while creating new neural pathways for optimal, sound health. Sound Baths incorporate a variety of resonant drone instruments such as Himalayan metal singing bowls, crystal singing bowls, monochords, shruti boxes, hand pans, percussion of different varieties and of course, the human voice. One of the key musical aspects of sound baths is the musical drone – a continual sound – tonal or rhythmic – that, when properly employed with therapeutic intention, can stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system which in turn allows the body to Rest, Digest, and Recover.
Each month, Katie will open up the discussion about new ways of listening and engaging in our sonic world for deepening our quest for mutual understanding and unconditional positive regard.
