Sonic Saturday is my monthly sound bath at Pure Yoga, with each month featuring a special musical guest. For April's sound bath, we invite Cypress Dubin. Join us for an afternoon of deep listening, meditative soundscape, and lush, ethereal harmonies, woven with Himalayan and crystal bowls, tuning forks, shrutti box, chimes and other world and shamanic instruments.
We are vibrational beings. Sound baths incorporate instruments with healing frequencies to re-tune body and mind, encourage relaxation, and stimulate the imagination to go on an inward journey. This transformative, deeply meditative 90-minute experience of sound and music opens with breath work to set up body and mind for relaxation. You're then guided into a supported pose, which allows you to melt into the soothing waves of vibration.
Cypress Dubin is an accomplished singer and yoga teacher whose classes weave together yoga and meditative practices with live music, chant, vocal improvisation and Himalayan bowl. She's a graduate of the music program at Columbia University and a professional singer for 25 years. Jessica and Cypress met several years ago and almost immediately began to sing together. They have since co-led workshops and created soundscapes together around the city.
